The Right Way
Our system is based on the fact that water seeks the lowest level. Birchwood Waterproofing creates a French Drain under the floor next to the footer, which is connected to a pit where a sump pump is installed. I am so confident in our sump pump that we give it a 7 year warranty.
Our system is guaranteed to keep water off your basement floor for the life of your home. My company can do this because the materials we use last forever: gravel, plastic pipe and concrete. Since water gravitates to the french drain, there is less dampness, which leads to no mold, etc., etc.
Our system works with the following types of foundations:
- stone
- concrete
- cinder block
- concrete block
- foundations without a footer
With respect to cinder block foundations, our seepage system drains water out of their hollow centers, resulting in a dry wall which will last many, many years.
Our system controls water coming in, in any of the following ways: cracks in wall, excessive water getting into window wells, from the bilco door, through the cove where the wall meets the floor and through cracks in the concrete floor.
Since the system used by Birchwood reduces hydrostatic pressure, we can repair cracks and bulging in the foudation walls without worrying about re-occurrence.
If you have a finished basement, my company can install our system with a minimum amount of damage. We can repair dry wall, paneling, etc. If you need an electrical outlet for the pump, we can do that, also!
We can install a new concrete floor at the same level as the existing one, or lower.
